Murray Moss: Industrial Revolution 2.0
V&A / 17 – 25 September
Do advances in 3D printing techniques put us on the verge of a new industrial revolution? With that question in mind, renowned New York based gallerist and curator Murray Moss creates a special exhibition of ‘printed’ works using some of the V&A’s key pieces and spaces, suggesting that design and manufacturing are about to enter a radical new era.
London Design Festival Breakfast Talks: Kiki van Eijk & Joost van Bleiswijk
V&A / 21 September
The playful Dutch design team Kiki van Eijk and Joost van Bleiswijk take part in our series of Breakfast Talks, supported by Surface magazine. Van Eijk and van Bleiswijk will be in London to launch Workshop with Bernhardt Design. Start your Festival day with a bit of cerebral stimulation from some of today’s most interesting young design practitioners.

The V&A / 17 – 25 September
Alongside the Breakfast Talks and the Google Design Lectures there’s a full programme of talks, debates and workshops running throughout our Festival, from designer talks by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Amanda Levete and Eyal Burnstein, to workshops on paper cutting and drawing, plus major debates on where design is headed and the V&A’s the Digital Design Weekend.
Donna Walker Design: aMEND
The Residence / 1 – 30 September
Designer, artist and furniture maker Donna Walker debuts at the London Design Festival with a new collection reflecting the existing beauty, form, and craftsmanship in old and discarded pieces of furniture.
Sculpture House
See Studio / 1 September – 1 October
Sculpture House, an artist-run organisation that commissions emerging sculptors to produce limited edition items of furniture, featuring artists James Capper, Alex Chinneck, Luke Hart and David Murphy, launches today.
Tramshed 2011
32 Rivington Street / 22 – 25 September
Over 40 product launches, daily seminars from Sam Grawe, a pop up cafe from Vonsung, plus Studioilse, Matthew Hilton, Charlene Mullen, and Leif.designpark, Søren Rose Studio and more; Tramshed, a major design destination showcasing selected brands, returns after its excellent 2010 debut.
Lego Greenhouse
Covent Garden / 15 – 25 September
Commissioned by Lego, Sebastian Bergne creates a public installation in Covent Garden that echoes the district’s history and buildings – a large-scale functioning greenhouse built entirely from Lego bricks.
A Range Product Launch
Woodbridge and Rees Gallery / 22 September
Alongside the major brands, ByAlex is one of the many emerging design practices launching new products at this year’s Festival. The A Range mixes typography with product design, using the typeface Replica as inspiration for a new furniture range.
The British Council: This Way Up
Pitfield / 17 – 24 September
Everything must go. An exhibition of 15 years of British Council commissions, exhibitions and special projects culminating in a special auction of items, from the functional to the frivolous, to raise money to fund a new design fellowship.
Ideas Generator, The Concept Lounge featuring Seymourpowell
The Gallery in Redchurch Street / 20 – 23 September
Wiith the help of expert guests, Seymourpowell invites you to test your design ideas in a future in which consumption is strictly limited. Three days of interactive workshops culminating in an exhibition. Tickets on sale from today.
African & African-Caribbean Design Diaspora Festival 2011
